EXPERIENCE
Our story started in 1991. Kit and her gingerbread angels haven't seen it all, but we know what to expect. We anticipate the challenges so you can focus on the fun & creativity. That's why it all looks so easy. All you have to do is sign up and show up.
The angels come from various backgrounds but we all share a love of gingerbread. We are eager to share our expertise. We guide you step by step through the process, from assembly to decoration. We offer a wide variety of tools and ideas to execute your vision. And let's not forget, over 50 different kinds of candy, including the traditional as well as the unusual and hard to find.
Of course, you can bake your own or buy a kit. But, our gingerbread is specially baked for instructional purposes. To buy the same number of candies would be prohibitive.
There are other workshops. But none give you the opportunity to build you own house with extras. From chimneys to chimineas, from the Alamo to an igloo, we know how to do it. We'll show you how.
Through the years, Kit has baked over 3200 houses. She will bake another 500 for this season's architects. People of all ages and professions have joined in the fun.
Beyond the fun, we've developed workshops for teambuilding events. Kit knows how to facilitate creativity and learning. Give her a call to find out more.
Gingerbreadworkshop.com is about a tradition... which grew far beyond its traditional boundaries. Our workshops are a nexus of creativity and tradition, where experience is tickled by the unexpected. Let our angels guide you along your creative journey.
Create with gingerbread. Build memories...skills...and traditions...all at our instructional workshops. |
PASSION
For Kit, it began with the desire to start a tradition for her own family. Today, it's still about sharing her family tradition.
1991 - Kit hosted her first workshop for daughter Meghan and some friends. 9 Houses Built.
1995 - A 75 house season. Kit was ready to call it quits. But, little Zach bounced through Kit's front door and pronounced, 'This is our family tradition, Kit.' From that point on, the passion grew.
1998 - gingerbreadworkshop.com went mobile for a private holiday party. 125 Houses Built
2004 -'Mom & Me' workshops began.
School workshops and team building events were part of the season. 150 Houses Built.
2005 - The first 'Just For Grown Ups' workshop, inspired by Gary and Debbie. Swede's has hosted this special adult workshop since 2006.
2006 - Birthday parties became part of the tradition. Thanks to corporate and team building workshops, our calendar now stretches beyond the traditional holiday season
2007 - The family owned Sea Island restaurants became our hosts for the 'Mom & Me' workshops. Their commitment to family traditions, along with their various locations throughout San Antonio, offer us a truly flexible schedule for our gingerbread architects. We're grateful for Sea Island's ongoing support.
We're organized. Planning continues throughout the year, but we thrive on the creativity. Each year, we add new elements to the process. That's where our new friends come in. We eagerly anticipate your creative vision. You'll take your own creation home, but you're now part of a long tradition. Thank you for sharing our family tradition. |
